IP and port filters using Wireshark

IP and port filters using Wireshark

Wireshark is a network protocol analyzer that allows you to capture and analyze network traffic. It can be used to filter network traffic based on a variety of criteria, including IP addresses and ports. :

To apply IP and port filters using Wireshark, follow these steps:

1. Start Wireshark and select the interface you want to capture traffic on.
2. In the filter bar at the top of the screen, enter the filter expression. For example, if you want to capture traffic only from a specific IP address, enter "ip.addr == x.x.x.x" (where x.x.x.x is the IP address you want to capture).
3. If you want to filter traffic based on a specific port, enter "tcp.port == n" or "udp.port == n" (where n is the port number you want to capture).
4. To apply the filter, click the "Apply" button next to the filter bar. Wireshark will now capture only the traffic that matches the filter expression.
To remove the filter and capture all traffic again, click the "Clear" button next to the filter bar.

Note that Wireshark supports many other filter expressions, including complex combinations of filters. You can find more information about filter expressions in the Wireshark documentation.
